Toronto’s East End is a colourful, welcoming, and vibrant place to live and grow.

People In The East End

Toronto’s east end has several distinct pockets catering to local residents. Throughout the east end you’ll find an eclectic group of people from all cultural backgrounds, families with young children, downsizing couples, as well as a significant LGBTQ+ population.

Life In The East End

This is an expansive and exciting area of Toronto that feels like a world of its own. Home to plenty of neighbourhoods with a range of lifestyle opportunities, there is a lot to love about this end of town.

Riverdale is home to excellent amenities and even better schools, making it a favourite for families. Residents are walking distance to most shops and restaurants, as well as iconic streets like Danforth Avenue—a hub of activity, as it’s lined with independent stores, lively bars, and unique retailers—and Queen Street East, known for its stretch of patios, cafés, and restaurants.

Riverdale is one of the most park-filled neighbourhoods in East Toronto, with Riverdale Park and Withrow Park as local favourites. Despite this being a lush and serene enclave, Riverdale is highly accessible, as it’s well-served by the TTC and is just minutes from downtown and highways. This laid-back east end community has the Toronto skyline as its backdrop, which creates the perfect balance with its historic charm and green surroundings.

Leslieville is one of Toronto’s most popular neighbourhoods, with everyone from new families to trendy young professionals making this enclave their home. Life in Leslieville is centred around Queen Street East, with its abundance of outdoor dining, and independent shops, and along Gerrard Street East, home to both a thriving Chinatown community and the colourful shops and restaurants of Little India.

Residents looking for a close-knit neighbourhood flock to Leslieville because it has managed to keep its charm, despite its growing popularity and proximity to downtown.

The Beach, arguably East Toronto’s most frequented neighbourhood, is quite literally an east end oasis as it’s home to four of the city’s beaches. A waterfront community, The Beach is favoured for its lakeside boardwalk, winding trails, and serene feel. Given its proximity to Lake Ontario, and relative seclusion, The Beach has a palpable laid-back, and cottage-like atmosphere that is difficult to recreate in a city like Toronto.

East Toronto has a little bit of something for everyone. Whether you want to be close to great schools, live by the lake, indulge in retail therapy, build community, or surround yourself with nature, you can live your ideal lifestyle here.
